BARC Residential Quarters Overview:

The Anushakti Nagar residential township of the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) covers more than 940 acres and accommodates the staff in the housing complex.

The more than 940 acres area stands out as one of the “greenest” and better-maintained sections of Mumbai city, with only approximately 11% of it covered in concrete (roads and buildings), despite the overall pollution in the city.

The BARC residential complex consists of 17 high-rises and includes numerous buildings, such as independent bungalows, apartments, and flats of varying sizes, capable of housing families of different sizes.

The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is a premier nuclear research centre in Mumbai, India. It has various residential quarters for its staff. Some of the residential quarters bear names such as Hastinapura, Kapilavastu, Nalanda, Patliputra, and Takshashila.

Harsh environmental conditions exposed these staff quarters, and they required protection against carbonation.

Several common facilities in the staff quarters cater to the needs of residents, including a shopping complex, a hospital, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a library, and a recreational centre.

Application

The contractors of the project applied Sunanda Global’s anti-carbonation coating to the residential staff quarters at BARC.

A team of trained professionals used the coating following strict guidelines to ensure optimal performance.

Sunanda Global formulated a customised anti-carbonation coating solution specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of the BARC buildings.

The contractors applied specialised equipment and techniques to ensure that the coating was applied evenly and effectively and that it adhered well to the concrete surface.
